Introduction.
NCC Boys wing – Operational since 1974
NSS wing - Operational since 1978
NCC Girls wing - Operational since 1992
NCC Air Wing - Operational since 1997
Students of NCC and NSS participate
in Regional and National camps where they get opportunity to learn about the culture
and language of other parts of the country. They interact with the students of the
same age group, hailing from different parts of the country. This promotes their
mental growth. These camps inculcate positive values such as civic sense, team-work,
national integration and consciousness of one’s duties towards society. Mansi Joshi
a B.Sc. III year student of the college, and an NCC cadet of the girls wing, got
selected for the Youth Exchange Programme at
Singapore
. Cadets also participate in Republic
Day parade at
New Delhi
.
Students are motivated to
participate in those activities which are relevant from social point of view. For
this college takes initiative to organize activities in collaboration with other
organizations. The winners are given prizes to motivate them. Participation certificates
are given by the college to those students who take part in activities of other
institutions and organizations.
Outstanding performance of NCC cadets
is recognized by giving a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- to the best cadet on 15th of
August every year. Those cadets whose overall performance is good are also given
prizes on prize distribution.
The N.C.C. cadets bring laurels to
the college by participating in the Republic Day Parade & in various camps.
Many cadets have also been selected for the Defense services. In the same way the
N.S.S. wing is involved in many social welfare activities. This kind of training
for students is very essential for developing their personality.
The extension activities are mainly
confined to students who are involved in NCC and NSS unit of the college. In fact
these units are doing laudable work in various areas such as:
The NSS students participate in adult
literacy programmes in those villages where camps are held.
These students also generate awareness
about health and hygiene and carry on a cleanliness drive in the villages.
NCC cadets participate in cycle rallies
which are organized to promote national integration
“Nukkad Natikas” are presented by
NCC and NSS students on such issues as AIDS awareness on World AIDS day, family
planning and social evils such as dowry etc.
Apart from these, NCC and NSS students
are involved in tree plantation, traffic regulation and measures to eradicate social
evils like corruption.
