Science holds a sway over the world today and rightly so, right from the decoding of the human genome to man’s landing on Mars.  P.M.B. Gujarati Science College is a leading science college of the commercial hub of the state of Madhya Pradesh which believes in the dictum, “Science is power. “Hence it aims to provide the country with students who are ready to spearhead the nation in the international arena of science.

The college, which has completed 54 years of its existence, has carved a niche for itself in the academic scenario of Indore and its neighboring towns. The goals and objectives of the institution have made a significant contribution in shaping it through the years and in continuing with its tradition of providing quality education despite the stiff competition from various quarters.

Ø       To provide education that is not only qualitatively sound, but also affordable. The college caters to the needs of students hailing from even lower economic strata. For this the fee structure has been so designed that the dream of pursuing higher education in the field of science of as many students as possible can be fulfilled.  It is only owing to the pressure generated by the withdrawal of 100% grant by the government to non-government colleges that the fee structure was revised and hiked.

Ø       To open the doors of science for more and more students by keeping the cut off percentage for admission lower than that required for admission into other science colleges of the city as Holkar Science College.

Ø       By providing quota for reservation for SC/ST/OBC students as directed by the government, the aim of bringing to the forefront the latent talent of students is achieved. Education is a great leveler and goes a long way in equalizing opportunity.

Ø       To become truly educated one must strike a proper balance in one’s educational pursuits. Certainly students should strive to excel in specific requirements of their major course of study, while at the same time complementing those efforts by pursuing other activities as well. In order to fulfill this objective the creative and literary talents of students are brought to the forefront through creative- writing, essay- writing, debates, exempts, science quiz, cultural activities and so on.

Ø       By completing the theory and practical syllabus well in time so that students get fairly good time for revision & thorough preparation for the examination, the objective, that classroom teaching is a major aspect of the college, is served.   

Ø       True education facilitates in understanding of oneself, and in generating a tolerance and respect for view point of others. This tolerance and mutual respect is the fundamental requisite of a sound democracy. Since students are the future citizens of any country, we train them to in the democratic process by enabling them in participate in fair and peacefully conducted student council elections.   

Ø       Keeping the students abreast with the latest and recent trends in various spheres of activity is another major aim of the college. To serve this end, seminars, workshops and conferences are organized from time to time.

Ø       Widening the mental horizon of students is also an objective which the institution endeavors to carry out by arranging educational excursions. Infect ours is the only college of Indore which organizes such trips. This brings about exposure and an opportunity to get in touch with the upcoming avenues in the field of science and technology.

Ø       To generate amongst the students a spirit of sportsmanship by motivating them to participate in indoor and outdoor sports activities.

Ø       Channelising the students in the right direction through proper selection of career and placement- this objective is implemented through a career- counseling cell which has been actively operational in the college.

Ø       Books are a man’s best friend and an enriched library in the college mirrors this maxim, thus providing the students a chance to interact with scholars and update their knowledge.

These can be summed up as the aims and objectives of the institution.    

The noble ideals which inspired the establishment of Shri Gujarati Samaj, Indore have been cherished and upheld by our College ever since inception. Following these ideals we have always given priority to students hailing from economically weaker sections, to rural students and to these backward classes. These goals and objectives are enshrined in the history of Shri Gujarati Samaj which is published every year in the annual College Magazine.
